The third movement of The Busker Symphony (2006).
Recorded at DIN Studios, Cable Street, London, October 2006.
Produced by Julian Simmons.
Performed by Hilary Brennan, Julie Clare, Nathan Taylor and Benjamin Till.
Deliberately written as a Bach pastiche, the vocals for this track took 12 hours to record. Each singer recorded at least six different and highly complicated vocal lines, and a feeling of utter madness descended on the studio!
The two pictures shown here are screen shots from the film. Benjamin met Carolina Hererra (above) at Westminster tube station, and was immediately struck by her beautiful singing voice. She is from Colombia.
Joe Newman (left), at 90, is the oldest busker in England, and possibly the world!
He plays the harmonica outside Fortnum & Masons's (in fact he is even on the staff there!) He busks entirely for Charity.
