Benjamin directed excerpts from Britten's Paul Bunyan, Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Beethoven's Fidelio with an extremely talented bunch of young singers.

Working for Northampton Youth Opera was Benjamin's first paid job after leaving drama school. A similar production was staged at Wellingborough's Castle Theatre the previous year.
