From the musical Letter To A Daughter.
Lyrics by Sir Arnold Wesker.

Musicians: Adrian Varela, Fiona Brice, Vasilis Saitis, Jon Wilkinson, Nikhil Dally, James Grace

Originally performed at King's College, London by Fiona Brice in the Summer of 1997, Benjamin felt the work was overly classical and wanted to create something of an anthem. He entirely rewrote the piece in the autumn of that year as a Latin-inspired song, but having worked on it with Julie Clare, rewrote it again in this version. The changes of metre created countless problems for the Julie, until Benjamin suggested that 5/8 was easy because most of us have five fingers!

The entire recording happened in one take in the studio with just three subsequent vocal drop-ins. If you listen carefully, you can hear a slight wavering in Julie's voice as she conducts the ensemble from the vocal booth!
