Benjamin's latest project, A1: The Road Musical, has now been completed, and is being shown on Channel 4 at 7.30pm on Friday 29th August.

A1: The Road Musical is a musical documentary about the longest road in Britain. The film begins in London and ends in Edinburgh. Along the way, we meet some of the weird and wonderful people who live, work and have links to this most eccentric road.

All those who feature in the film tell their personal stories through music and song. No actors are used. Everyone is singing their own, genuine story.

The previews have been very good: Pick of the day in many major papers:

"There's something remarkably touching about the amateurs singing their hearts out about issues they truly believe in. What emerges is a unique protrait of British life and the kind of original, risk-taking programme that C4 are good at - and should do more of. A great idea deftly executed, this heralds the arrival of an exciting new directorial talent."
(The Mail on Sunday)

"The end result is a sublimely moving documentary portrait which plays like Mamma Mia as imagined by John Grierson."
(The Scotsman, best documentary, pick of the week)

Benjamin has also been commissioned to make Coventry Market: The Musical, for BBC Warwickshire. This film will feature stories from some of the people who run market stalls in Coventry's indoor market, which was built 50 years ago.

In November 2007, Benjamin worked with Sir Arnold Wesker again, on the BBC World Service drama, The Rocking Horse. Benjamin wrote incidental music for the play and an original song, which was sung by Nathan Taylor. The music was scored for string quartet and autoharp.

In October 2007, Benjamin directed a short documentary about an innovative wheelchair for BBC London's Inside Out series.
