Benjamin's composition Nene has been performed at the Royal Albert Hall, Northampton Derngate Theatre and Peterborough Abbey. The work, which tells the story of the River Nene from its source in West Northamptonshire to the Wash, was performed by well over a thousand different musicians and singers from Northamptonshire, Rutland and Cambridgeshire.

It was premiered at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Music for Youth Proms.

Benjamin walked the entire length of the river (the tenth longest in the UK) during six bitterly cold days in December 2017 as inspiration for the compositon.

The Northampton Chronicle and Echo described the compostion's performance at the Northampton Derngate as a "truly remarkable event" and went on to say that "nurtured properly, the effects of it could benefit the entire county [of Northamptonshire] for generations to come."
