by Peter Maxwell Davies
Benjamin is one of the only "singers" in the World to have tackled Peter Maxwell Davies' Eight Songs for a mad King: a fiendishly complicated and bizarre 20th Century classic, which involves, at times, singing two notes at once... and a great amount of shrieking and yelling!
Benjamin decided to perform the work for his University finals recital, despite having been a first study cellist nd never having sung formally until that point!
He had an intensive course of singing lessons with Yvonne Seymour, and performed the work in May 1996.
